MUNSTERKIDS FAMILIES | THE CORDOBA'S
The family behind The Help Experience DREAM BIG!
We wanna know more about you and how it is you are living out your families dreams!
Tell us...
What does a week in the life of your family look like? Do you have any rituals in which you swear by?
Coffee! We swear by coffee. Every morning before the kids wake - we just seem to be better people after coffee. Every night we ask the kids three questions: What made you happy? What made you sad? What made you frustrated? It allows them to express their feelings and ignites conversation about their days. As the kids get older we realise how much less of their world we are involved in, to keep that communication and their storytelling open to us is so important to us as parents.
You guys travel the world with The Help Experience (HELP), tell us more about HELP?
We wanted to be those who dream big, create change and impact the future. In order to fulfil our ‘big dream’ we needed to create something real, raw and effective. So we decided to stop dreaming and BE the change by demonstrating a better way of doing business - democratic, environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, and so was born The Help Experience and The Helpers Foundation.
The Help Experience helps brands, businesses and influencers on a mission to reinvent their connection with customers and followers by creating immersive unique travel experiences for real life interaction. We dedicate 10% of total revenue to provide funds to The Helpers Foundation seeking to support diversity, community, education, sustainability, creativity, design and ethical business practices in different parts of the world. Giving us and our clients more purpose behind every experience created. These funds from The Help Experience are being donated to the Helper’s and used towards our annual social mission - The Helper’s Experience.
What do you believe to be the three most important steps to move towards living an inspired life?
1. Be around those that want the best for you and encourage you.
You will eventually become a product of the people who surround you; that’s something I learned the hard way. We are all reflections of the people we keep in our lives and interact with on a daily basis. Their actions and behaviours all resonate and subconsciously influence our everyday choices. Your environment shapes who you are and who you will become. You’re in total control of your life and the choices you make, so why not place yourself in a positive and engaging environment, one that suits your needs?
2. Always follow your gut and don’t worry!
If you think to much, all sorts of worries and drama can get in the way with good decision making. We normally move pretty fast when it comes to decision - some times it works out and some times it doesn't - either way it's an adventure. Every one of us has a story and they all contain ups and downs; choices in which we take pride in and decisions we regret making. These could all be difficult memories with which we must live, but ultimately, it’s about the lessons we can draw from them.
3. Take risk and be brave! I once read a really simple and insightful quote;
"Yes, risk-taking is inherently failure-prone. Otherwise, it would be called ‘sure-thing-taking" We shouldn't be so scared to fail, but we also shouldn't judge others ( and ourselves) so harshly if we do. Failure isn't a sign of weakness, it shows you tried and I think thats super brave!
A story about being brave
It was only the other night we were playing tickle monsters with the kids before bed (yes, in hindsight poor choice of timing, reaving the kids up just before bed). Josh was chasing all three of us through the house and things were going well - lots of laughs, fun screams and giggles.
UNTIL....Josh got a little carried away. It was very dark, we were under the covers together and Josh thought is was a good idea to put a toy box over his head and shine a bright touch over his face whilst making scary monster noises. Tucker lost it, crying in terror.
After we calmed him down he was so upset with himself that he was the only one that got scared. He couldn’t understand why he was scared and no one else? The most interesting part of this story is that he was SO brave! He told us that he was scared and asked us to stop, he didn't run away, he shared how he felt and then wanted to continue playing. It’s so brave to be honest with yourself and this around you - YES it is risky, and vulnerability is hard but what are we without it?
How important is teaching your kids to be mindful and practice self love? How do you instil these principles in your home?
Firstly, self love is not a bubble bath - it is hard work and needs attention daily. We believe the only way to teach our children to practice self love is to show them how it is done!
Whats next?
We have lots of Experiences coming up in 2019 so we have decided to hit the road with then kids and take 6 months to travel together in between our Experiences. Our first stop is Japan for our Japan Creatives Experience before heading over to the Europe. We end in Bali next April school holidays for our first Family Friendly Retreat, we are beyond excited!
But our main focus is The Helpers Foundation and our annual social mission - The Helper’s Experience. Each year we make it possible for Helpers from all walks of life to immerse themselves in contributing to a community and foster cultural exchange and understanding. In 2019 The Helpers will focus on providing opportunities to empower people with access to clean water and sanitation solutions they desperately need, in an effort to create real change in their lives and communities. We would love you to join us!
Life is quite the adventure...Share with us some words of wisdom you guys live by?
Stand in your own truth!
Imagine a beautiful life and do what sets your belly on fire. Imagination is everything, if you can imagine it - you can have it. It may take hard work, persistence and you might rustle a few feathers but be true to yourself and live your own truth. At the end of the day, its just you.
