This week on the Kidlife Blog we speak to owner and founder of Vos Creative, Shannon Vos about juggling family life and creativity, aswell as a little insight into the Vos world. The Interior designer best known for winning The Block 2014 with his brother says " I now see spaces differently when designing for families and always consider how a little person would use a space as opposed to just how an adult would utilise a space." We couldnt agree more - seeing life through a kids eyes is the Munster essence.

You have two beautiful boys, Give us some insight how you make the juggle between creativity, work and family life run smooth?
Run smooth?? HAHA. Smooth is only a distant memory, it's chaotic, it's messy and it's loud, but it's so full of life and laughs and I wouldn't swap it for all the tea in China. We're very family orientated, we both work hard and sacrifice a lot, but when the weekend comes, the boys are our world. We mostly stick to a routine with the kiddies as they are still quite young so we try and keep some order in the chaos and excitement.
We here at Munsterkids are inspired by our kids lifestyle and there insatiable zest for fun and life! How do your kids inspire your work?
As an interior designer, I now see spaces differently when designing for families and always consider how a little person would use a space as opposed to just how an adult would utilise a space. (ie. running through a room with as much pace and misdirection as possible). I travelled a LOT after high school, and that time (about 10 years) changed me completely and grew an appreciation for all things design, so I’m excited to see things again in a different light through the boys eyes, and see them become awed and inspired. I’d love to show them the places where I lived and the places I visited and see their little minds blown…..or maybe they don’t wanna lame holiday with their dork dad, who knows…ha.
Describe your style in three words?
Wife led (haha), bare feet, raw finishes, splashes of colour.
Your work and your family life is creatively inspired, How important is teaching your kids to practise creativity and do you think its an important part of parenting?
I think it’s one of the biggest attributes we can teach our kids. I want them to be able to express themselves, be curious and get as much out of life as possible. Life without creativity can be a boring place, and my two boys are anything but boring, so I'm expecting big things from the little tuckers.

What's your morning ritual?
The boys are usually up before the sun, so we are too. My weekdays start with a hit of coffee and breakfast with the fam. Dusty loves helping in the kitchen and makes a mean smoothie bowl or pirate porridge. I get to spend an hour with the boys before I start knuckling down into the design work, so it's always nice to get the best of them first thing in the morning (ie before they get all tired and stroppy). The kids haven't got the memo that the weekends are for sleep-ins yet (ha), but its usually a tower of pancakes, a decent coffee and then we're all itching to get some sand beneath our toes.
Life is quite the adventure...Share with us some words of wisdom you guys live by?

"If you can't beat them, join them." As a mum of boys (who already love everything outdoors and wrestling) I am starting to realise that I'll miss out on all the fun if I just don't join in and embrace the crazy. LISA
